An ok game but pay one more dollar to get the amazing 2nd version. Trust me
pretty cool game, took me awhile to get controls didnt know youd have to swipe like your really cutting them lol
You like cutting enemies in half. Prepare for great time.
Finally beat it It really fun but pretty dam hard though
there is a pop up message that tell me that "Samurai" cant install on my device unless I have iOS4, I have 3.1.3 and dont plan to upgrade, please fix it, thank you.
The trailer of the second game on start up??? Really?? Cmon guys. Other than that good game. Please add retina support.
The game is one of the best games I have played in the iPhone, however, the game is useless after I zeroed it. I would like to see dueling including so as to give the game new life an continuous play...thank you...
I bought this app a couple months ago before the 4.0 update and know I cant use it because it only supports iPhone OS 4.0 Either update with support for 1st Gen. iPods and iPhones or refund my money.
But the game does not control well.
Yeah, its billed as a hack-and-slash game and thats what it is. Not much else to it. Its hard to control, the combos are inconsistently manifested, and theres not much fun in it unless you like mindless time-killing. It looks great - the art is well-done.
The update is useless to my iOS 3.1 device...
But this game is terrible. I mean wow. What a steaming pile of fail. I just figured it was my civic duty to point that out.
At first I must admit its hard to get into the controls, but as you go on you will get it, anyways if you live the game style, but the controls are helpless for you, you always can try the game continuation samurai 2, that has intuitive controls and a more friendly interface. Nice job
So much fun and awesome when you split the guys in half on the first strike but the controls are hard to figure out. Cant get past the 3rd part. Make the controls easier or give an option to use these controls or have a d-pad and buttons on the screen like Samurai 2 in the next update. Ill give it 5 stars once the controls are easier.
Samurai: Way of the Warrior is a beautiful iphone game with the depth of a kiddie pool. I will admit I knew that going in... and while trying to play the game I did not mind the lack of depth. The controls are terrible... the idea is novel taking a page from games like Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword on the DS and having you swipe in different directions to take on enemies and execute combos but what is on offer here is a sluggish/inconsistent input system that in later levels sees you being taken down over and over again because the interface simply doesnt allow you to keep up. It also doesnt help that around the 4th stage enemies become so fast that their attack telegraphs become almost unusable as dodge indicators. In addition to a lack of input speed, the combos are inconsistent and from what I can tell the instant death moves are random. You may might hack and slash at a single enemy over and over again to take him down while the one right next to him will be taken down in one hit. All said I cannot recommend this game, it could be fun with a little more polish but as it stands now Samurai is a hollow core loop experience with sloppy (poorly documented?) controls. Since there is now a Samurai 2 on the app store Mad Finger revisiting this app for polish seems unlikely.
CRASH!
The idea of giving the game play a different twist was a good one, but its done poorly here. Trying to get the controls to differentiate movement from attacking, especially amidst many enemies, is aggravating beyond belief.
The controls are incredibly unresponsive, and the is extremely repetitive. The comic book style cutscenes are well done, but the story isnt that interesting. There is no help that tells you how to play, and the gamecenter achievements are not all that exciting. It is satisfying when you get to slice an enemy in half, but that is rare because of the horrible controls.
I give it 4 1/2 stars. It is a great game, love everything about it. It loses half of a star because its too short of a game. Definitely worth the .99 I spent on it and well worth the 2.99 it was priced at. Buy it at .99 while you still can!
